Helen K. Bohnenkamp, 91, died Wednesday, October 05, 2011 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2011at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. John Flaherty. Family will greet friends from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 7 with a 3:00 Rosary at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Manchester. Burial: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester, IA.

Helen was born February 11, 1920, the daughter of Harrison Isaac and Nona Zoe (Putnam) Overton in Princeton, MO. She attended Pleasanton Grade and High School. On January 13, 1939, Helen was united in marriage to Milton Bohnenkamp in Des Moines, IA. The couple moved to Manchester in 1953 and owned and operated the Bohnenkamp Funeral Home. Helen assisted her husband in his funeral home business as well as being a homemaker.

Helen was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, served as Past-President and member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Jude’s Study Club, Past President and member of St. Mary’s Rosary Society and was head of the Delaware County Easter Seal Society for 8 years.

Helen is survived by three children, Ted Bohnenkamp of Manchester, Kathleen “Kathy” (Mike) McCready of Grain Valley, MO, and Chris Bohnenkamp of Culver City, CA,; four grandchildren, Scott Bohnenkamp, Sherrie (Darrin) Blakesley, Tiffany (Doug) Short, and Michael (Sandra) McPeak; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Lloyd (Marilyn) Overton of Leon and Harold (Colleen) Overton of Blue Earth, MN.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Nona Overton; her husband, Milton in 1996; a son, Michael Lee Bohnenkamp; two sisters, Evelyn Schreffler and Dora Cofer; and a brother Willard Overton.
