Helen Elizabeth “Bette” Sudderberg, 81, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, May 25, 2009, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2009, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Tom McDermott. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a scripture service at 5:30 p.m. and visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughter, Jackie (Larry) Stusak of Palo; her son, Rich (Sandy) Sudderberg of Hobe Sound, Florida; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Russ) Blood of Walford and Stacie (Jeff) Ferring of Palo; one grandson-in-law, Jon Dochterman of Cedar Rapids; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Gardner of Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Ruth Seery and Jean Seery both of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews
Bette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; son, Michael; daughter, Mary Joan; granddaughter, Shellie Dochterman; and siblings, Bonnie Gruber, Dorothy Knapp, Joe Seery, and Frank Seery.
Born July 5, 1927, in Ryan, Iowa, Bette was the daughter of Joseph and Blanche (Duffy) Seery. She graduated from Springville High School. On May 31, 1946, she was united in marriage to Glenn Sudderberg in Illinois. He died March 2, 1996. For 27 years she worked for Square D, retiring in 1986.
Bette was a longtime member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church.
