Heidi Brueggeman, 32, of Kentwood, Michigan, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at home Thursday, May 29, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service honoring and celebrating Heidi?s life will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Joseph Polzin. Friends may call on Monday, June 2, 2003, from 4-8 pm, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her loving husband, Patrick and her beloved children, Austin, Brennen, and Collin; all at home; her father and stepmother, George and Debora Smith of Cedar Rapids; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Connie Brueggeman of Highmore, SD, a sister, Heather Heins and husband Doug of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Chris Neal and wife Mary Beth of Cedar Rapids; grandmothers, Betty Dudrey of Cedar Rapids and Shirley Smith of Black Duck, MN; two nephews, Jonathon and Justin Heins of Cedar Rapids; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Debra J. Smith; and two grandfathers, Vernon Dudrey and Lowell Smith.
Heidi was born February 16, 1971 the daughter of George and Debra Dudrey Smith, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married Patrick Brueggeman on September 29, 2001 in Central City, IA.
