Hazel was born the daughter of Carl F. & Elizabeth "Lizzie? (Eggiman) Wenger on July 27, 1912, at her parent?s home in Adams Township south of Ryan. She attended Ehler School Dist. #1 and later graduated from Coggon High School in May of 1930. Hazel then received her normal training at Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught at Tower Hill Dist. #7 country school west of Ryan. On May 6, 1935, Hazel was united in marriage to Albert I. Keebler at Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan. The couple purchased a small acreage west of Ryan where they gardened and raised chickens and a few cows. Hazel became a cook for the Ryan School. Albert died in 1980. Hazel continued to live on their acreage until her health required moving to the Good Neighbor Home in 2001.

Hazel was a life-long member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan. The couple was very active in their church volunteering many hours. Hazel started playing the organ for the church in ninth grade and continued for fifty years. The couple enjoyed the Senior Citizen and Euchre card clubs. Hazel always enjoyed having family and friends around and had plenty of good food to feed them all. Hazel loved being with and helping her nieces, nephew and their families.

Hazel is survived by her nieces and nephews, Mary & Ned Minehart of Brooklyn, Bill & Bonnie Wenger of Ryan, and Joyce & Mark Schlueter of Ryan; many great-nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Minnie Wenger of Ryan; and special friends, Merrill Kimm of Coggon and Evelyn Berends of Lisbon.
