Hazel M. Hurt (Miles)

Hazel M. Hurt, 94, of 6804 Stoneybrook Lane NE, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Central City, died Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. Services: 10 A.M. Friday, August 25, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Leo Anderson. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 7 p.m. today (Thursday.) Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Glen (Marie) Hurt of Cedar Rapids, Howard "Ed? (Dolly) Hurt of Center Point and Allen "Red? (Mary Cay) Hurt of Central City; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ora Marie (Doug) Sweet of Hiawatha.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard in February of 1992; a granddaughter, Tammi Wilson; a great-granddaughter, Chloe Campbell; a brother, Earl "Bud? Miles; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Hurt.
Hazel was born July 23, 1912, in Robins, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Anna (Pflughaupt) Miles. She was a graduate of Washington High School in Cedar Rapids. Hazel worked as a bookkeeper for Handler Motor Company in Cedar Rapids and Linn Co-op in Marion.
Family was paramount in Hazel?s life. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
