Hazel Hill, 100, of Cedar Rapids, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, December 17, 2002. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 20, 2002, Cedar Rapids Christian Center, 609 1st Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Barry M. Foster. Burial at 1:30 p.m., Friday, at Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa. Friends may call from 5-8 today (Thursday) at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughters, Berdena (Lloyd) Grimm, Donna (Allen) Kruckenberg, both of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a brother, Luther Thumm.
Hazel was born November 4, 1902, in Buffalo, West Virginia, to Valentine and Lydia (Matthews) Thumm. She married Clarence Hill on February 23, 1926, in Aledo, Illinois. They farmed in Tipton, Stanwood and Clarence areas until her husband?s death. Hazel then moved to Tipton and later to Cedar Rapids in 1951. Hazel will be remembered for her love of God, church, giving and her family.
