Harvey D. Witte, 77, of 2615 Lynn Drive, Marion, died Saturday, January 24, 2004, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from heart failure. Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion, by the Revs. Kevin Jones and Dennis Johnson. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church. Private burial services will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.

Survivors include his wife, LaVon; three sons, Mark (Denise) Witte of Marion, Bruce L. (Lori) Witte of Cedar Rapids and David (Tami) Witte of Richardson, Texas; a sister, Betty (Jack) McGee of Grand Blanc, Michigan; a brother, George "Bud? Witte of Garnavillo; six grandchildren, Emily, Jacob, Brittany, Audrey, Nicole and Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Bernadine Witte.

Harvey was born on August 6, 1926, the son of Harvey Witte Sr. and Florence Tieden Witte in Elkader, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.On February 7, 1952, he was united in marriage to LaVon Zittergruen in Guttenberg, Iowa. Harvey graduated from Upper Iowa University in Fayette. He was employed at Rockwell-Collins for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1989. Harvey was a member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.

He was an avid fisherman and golfer and especially enjoyed gardening and playing cards.
