Harvey Nelson Simons
May 11, 1956 — February 12, 2005
Harvey N. Simons, 48, of 2036 Chandler Street SW, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, February 12, 2005, in his home, following a long illness. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear, with military honors. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; a son, Noah Simons of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Lee (Teresa) Simons of Hiawatha, Iowa, Roy Simons and Charlie Simons, both of Flint, Michigan; and sisters, Helen (Darren) Houfek, of Highland, Michigan, Rusty Ingersoll of Flint, Michigan, Kathy Shepard and Penny Wouters, both of Oscoda, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Susie Simons.
Harvey was born May 11, 1956, the son of LeRoy and Doris Wezell Simons, in Flint, Michigan. He served with the United States Army in Germany from 1974-1976. On September 12, 1981, Harvey was united in marriage to Donna Daniel in Cedar Rapids. He loved NASCAR racing, especially Dale Earnhardt & Son, the Denver Broncos, fishing and thoroughly enjoyed his music. Harvey will be greatly missed by all.
Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa for liver research in memory of Harvey.
