Harry J. “Pug” Parker, Jr., 82, of Marion, died Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Private family burial.
Survivors include 3 sons, John (Susan) Parker of Morrisville, NC, Joseph (Leslie) Parker of Cedar Rapids, and Jerry (Eileen) Parker of Walford; 5 grandchildren, Kurt, Karissa, Devin, Molly, and Amy Parker; 2 great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Hannah Parker; a sister, Genevieve (James) Hallock of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Bob (Shirley) Parker of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen; 2 sons, Jeff and Jim; his parents; 3 brothers, Don, John, and Charles; and 3 sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Parker, Margaret “Mag” Roszell, and Jeanette Parker.
Harry was born September 29, 1929 in Marion, the son of Harry J. and Abbie (Bubla) Parker, Sr. He served in the Army Air Force. On April 23, 1955, Harry was united in marriage to Kathleen Bray at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. She died September 29, 2005. He was a field technician for IBM Corporation for 37 ½ years.
