Harry E. Norman, Jr., 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016, at Bickford Cottage, Marion, Iowa. Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, on Wilson Avenue, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: one hour prior to service. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Harry is survived by his daughters, Judy (Wayne) Husted of Shellsburg, Iowa, Nancy (Mike) Newsome of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Donna Lowe Finch, Edward (Nancy) Lowe, Douglas (Julie) Newsome, Michael (Debbie) Riddle and Gregory (Michelle) Renner; in-laws, Mike (Jackie) Forbes and Patricia Day and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Norman; his parents; brother, Verl; sisters, Arlene Sanders and Anna McGuire; granddaughter, Lawni Renner in March 1995; and brother-in-law, Richard Day.
Harry was born on August 17, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, son of Harry and Vivian (Rawson) Norman, Sr. He married Juanita Day on November 24, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. Harry entered the United States Army in 1943, serving in the 8th Armored Division in European Theatre during WWII. Harry was a Union Master Plumber for Brown Plumbing, retiring in 1986, after 36 years. Harry was a past member of American Legion Post #5. He enjoyed going to the cabin at Lake Delhi, where he boated and fished. Harry liked to bowl and loved his animals.
