Harold F. Sutton, 87, of 449 Claudette Lane N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, March 12, 2010, in Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Randy Kasch. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg, Iowa. Military Honors by the VFW. Arrangements provided by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children, James (Elaine) Sutton of Shellsburg, Wesley Sutton of Cedar Rapids, Pamela Sutton of Cedar Rapids and Debra (Rick) Theilen of Hiawatha; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Ethel) Sutton of Columbus, Nebraska; a brother-in-law that he was very close to, Bob (Doris) Moellenberndt of Aurora, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Bonnie.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents.
Born July 22, 1922, in Sumner, Nebraska, Harold was the son of Orin and Edna (Hagen) Sutton. On November 9, 1945, in Marysville, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Ruth Moellenberndt. He retired from the U. S. Air Force after 20 years of service and then worked as an iron worker.
Harold was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, the VFW, the American Legion and Local 89 Iron Workers. He loved fishing and hunting and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.
