Harold Duane Jones

Harold Duane Jones, was born October 12, 1924, in Colesburg, Iowa, and died on November 13th, 2019. He was the youngest of seven children and was the last to pass away. He was a resident of the Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, for two weeks until his failing health got the best of him. He had said that living to 100 years was his goal, but it was just not to be. Harold was a World War II veteran, serving in the Navy and also the Coast Guard. After leaving the Navy he went to work with Boeing, then on to many different jobs across the country.

Harold enjoyed looking and finding morel mushrooms, hunting and fishing. He was great at ole Iowa corn and could tell one line jokes with the best.

He is survived by six children, Shawn Jones, of Marengo, Iowa, Leslie Loud(Alvin),Oak Hill, Florida, Judy Hartman, Flint, Michigan, Sandy VanSeveren(Rick), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Linda Davis, Fort Collins, Colorado, and Sharon Benson, Chino, California. Harold was a grandfather to nine children, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jones, and youngest son, Brad Jones.

There will be a military memorial service held at the Bethel Cemetery, Osterdock, Iowa, in late spring or summer of next year when the family gathers for a reunion.
