Harold Bishop “Hock” Hockaday, 95, of Nashua, NH, and formerly of Marion, Iowa, died on April 17, 2013 at his home from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Private Family Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, Iowa. “ONE MEMORY LIGHTS ANOTHER.”
Harold was born on April 3, 1918 in Oneida Township, Iowa, son of the late William Wallace and Cora Elizabeth (Bishop) Hockaday. He was a graduate of Manchester High School. Mr. Hockaday was a shoe salesman in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for many years. Upon his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s in 2006, Hock relocated to New Hampshire to live with his son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Claudia.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Jo Flitsch.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dan Hockaday and his wife Claudia of Nashua; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Ruth Wazac and her husband Dave of Cedar Rapids, IA, Corinne Lyons and her husband Jeff of Hiawatha, IA; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Dan and Claudia are especially thankful for the services provided by the following organizations; Alzheimer’s Support Group and Karg Day-Away Program at Milette Manor, Caring Companions of Easter Seals, St. Joseph Home and Hospice Care, Meals-on-Wheels, Crotched Mountain Case Management and Alzheimer’s Association of NH. Through their kind and caring work, Hock was able to remain at home for the duration of his life.
