Harold Junior Hills, 77, of Crestview Acres, formerly of Central City, died at the nursing home, Monday, March 30, 2009, after a long illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City conducted by Rev. Nick Needham. The family will greet friends 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.

Survivors include his children, Edward Hills of Central City, Kelly (Bruce) Heck of Central City; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Joseph) Wise, Danielle Heck, Jaime (Nathan) Vanis; one grandson, Douglas (Ami) Hills; two great-granddaughters, Allison Wise and Avery Wise; four great-grandsons, Brady Wise, Jon Hills, Noah Hills, and Vincent Vanis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, and his son, Steven Hills.

Harold was born July 31, 1931, in Lumbardville, Illinois to Harold and Darlene (Hoadley) Hills. He was married to Shirley Myers on March 11, 1950, in Independence, Iowa. Harold was a machinist with Rockwell for over 35 years, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved Labrador Retrievers. Harold liked to travel with his wife and spend time with special friends from Canada. He loved to dance at the Prairie Moon Ballroom and especially liked polka and country music.

A memorial fund has been established in Harold’s name.
