Harold Arthur Heddinger, 68, 3790 28th Avenue, Marion, IA died Tuesday, November 16, 2004 in St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2004 at First United Methodist Church in Marion by Rev. Michael Morgan with military honors. Graveside Committal Services: 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Maplewood Cemetery at Vinton, Iowa. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Kay Ann, Son Jeffrey Lee and wife Laurie of Marion, Son Bradley Jay and wife Dianna of Loves Park, IL, three grandchildren, Leah, Eric and Anna of Marion, Sister Darlene Bursovsky of Marion, sister and brother-in-law Bernadine and Bruce Hamlett of Strawberry Point, nephews: Larry (Linda) Hamlett of Cedar Rapids, Bill Bursovsky of Swisher, Steve (Jody) Bursovsky of Alburnett, Nieces: Darla (Dave) Kelly of Waterloo, Cheryl (Don) Holtz of Strawberry Point, Kathy (Mike) Simon of Verona, WI, Joanne (Frank) Byrns of Marion, Mary (Chanh) Phan of Marion, Teresa Hamlett of Marion and Lanette Bursovsky of Marion, nine great nephews, six great nieces, several cousins and numerous family friends.

Harold, born May 19, 1936 in Iowa City, IA, was the son of Arthur James and Ceva Mae (Blough) Heddinger. Harold married Kay Ann Kalvig January 11, 1963 in Vinton, IA at the Wesley United Methodist Church. They made their home in Cedar Rapids, moving to Marion in 1964.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, half sister, Rosemary Syrovy, half brother, Forest Heddinger and brother-in-law, William Bursovsky.

Harold entered the army in February 1954 and received a medical discharge in October of 1954. He worked as an auto mechanic after his discharge from the Army until March of 1967 when he started work at Miehle-Goss-Dexter, Incorporated (now Rockwell Goss) and retired June 30, 1996 after 29 years and 3 months of service as an assembler of printing equipment. He earned and received his GED in October 1963.

Harold was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marion and the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO Harmony Lodge No. 831. Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, camping, dominoes with friends and learning everything he could about history and space. After his retirement he spent many hours on his computer working on family genealogy. He enjoyed learning about his and Kay?s ancestors and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. Harold had a deep commitment to his family and said, "My greatest accomplishments in life are my children and my greatest loves are my grandchildren?.

A memorial fund has been established in Harold?s memory.

Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #298 of Marion.
