Harold “Hal” L. Klink, 93, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church, Marion, conducted by Reverend Dr. Howard Chapman. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to service at the church. Private family burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Hal was born January 31, 1925, in rural Clayton County, Iowa, the son of LeRoy and Irma (Piehl) Klink. After graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for two years and then received his bachelor’s degree after four years of study at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. On August 15, 1948, in Elkader, Hal was united in marriage to Beverley Hickman. Hal was employed at Rockwell Collins for 35 years. For 60 years, he was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Marion and served the community as a member of the Marion Board of Education for 13 years including several as President.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bev of Marion; his children, Bruce (Kathy) Klink of Kewaskum, Wisconsin and Michelle Klink of San Jose, California; three granddaughters, Jenny (Eric) Engel of DeForest, Wisconsin, Brianne (Toby) Heidke of Windsor, Wisconsin, and Jessie Klink of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; six great-grandchildren, Adde, Eli, Everett, Olivia, Myla, and Ruby; and his siblings, Les (Mary) Klink of Elkader and Ila Mae (Fred) Fenchel of Mason City.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Hal’s memory may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Marion.
