Harold Floyd Edmonds, 69, a resident of Coggon, passed away with his family at his side on Saturday, August 16, 2003, following an extended illness. Visitation will be held Monday, August 18, 2003, from 4-8 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City.

The service of Death and Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, August 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Parish Church in Coggon conducted by Rev. Will Dilsaver with military burial to follow at the Coggon Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joan; his children, Doug and his wife Jacci of Hiawatha, daughter, Vicki and her husband Joe Ricken of Marshalltown, Steve and his wife Joan of Gladstone, Michigan and Tim and his partner Tom of Washington DC; and nine grandchildren, Jenny, Megan, Tessa, Alexi, Erin, Stephanie, Lindsey, Bryce and Bailey.

Also surviving are four sisters, Shirley Goranson, Norma Jean George, Doris Lei and Alice Smith; and a brother, Kenneth Edmonds.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Dorothy (Peters) Edmonds.

Harold Floyd Edmonds was born July 22, 1934, in Dundee, Iowa. He married Joan Crouch of Coggon on November 7, 1956, during leave while serving in the Marines during the Korean War. Harold was well known in the area through his early work as a self-employed Milk Hauler Contractor through AMPI and later as a Custodian and Bus Driver for Coggon Elementary and the North Linn Community Schools. Harold took great pride in his work and was highly involved in providing support of the extra curricular activities of North Linn Schools and its students. Harold was also highly involved in community activities by serving on the Coggon City Council, The American Legion Post 362, Coggon Cemetery Board, Coggon Volunteer Fire Department and various positions on boards and committees for the United Parish in Coggon. Harold and Joan have spent the last six years in retirement traveling and vacationing in their RV and playing with their grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Harold F. Edmonds North Linn Schools Scholarship Fund for the Arts (Linn County State Bank in Coggon) or to St. Luke?s Hospice Care, Cedar Rapids.
