Harold M. “Snooks” Burgess, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, December 15, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital, from cancer. Harold’s wife Janice died on December 13, 2011 and their service will be held: 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Lt. Kristina Sjogren. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Survivors include his step-children, Peggy (Greg) Herdlicka of Cedar Rapids, Jada (Randy) Fry of Arlington, Texas, and Jim (Chris) Ruger of Sheffield; 12 step-grandchildren; and 5 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother; and one sister.
Harold was born May 16, 1939, the son of Harold O. and Adella Burgess. On June 13, 1969, he married Janice Ruger. Harold was employed at Universal Engineering and was a longtime member of the Eagle’s Club.
