Harlan D. Rasmussen, 76, a resident of Village Ridge in Marion, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, died Thursday, January 15, 2004, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a prolonged illness. A memorial service will be held in Austin, Minnesota.
Survivors include his children, Peggy Guzman and husband Cliff of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Sue Landas and husband Steve of Syracuse, New York, Karen Sunderman and husband Jerry of Marion, Dave Rasmussen and wife Sherri of Stevens Point, Wisconsin and Amy Hameister and husband Dan of Byron, Minnesota; seventeen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille; two infant daughters; a daughter, Patricia Ahrens; and a brother, Jack Rasmussen.
Harlan was born January 27, 1927, the son of Clifford and Nina (Olson) Rasmussen in Albert Lea, Minnesota. On March 18, 1949, he married Lucille C. Jennings. She died March 29, 1993. Harlan served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion and the Knights of Columbus.
