Harlan Ray Davis, 65, was born May 15, 1954, at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Manchester, to Robert (Bob) and Beverly (Shaw) Davis. He passed away at the Jackson Regional Hospital in Maquoketa, Iowa, on August 19, 2019. Visitation will be held at the Delhi United Methodist Church from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2019. Funeral Services will be held at the Delhi United Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2019, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Harlan attended Maquoketa Valley Community School and graduated with the class of 1972. Upon graduation he worked on bridge construction, was an EMT at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital and worked in the maintenance department. From Delaware County he ventured to Wisconsin to get a degree as a mechanical engineer technician. He designed beverage items for Coca-Cola, Busch Garden, and Disney in Europe. His hobbies were woodworking and gardening. Some of his fondest memories were of the things his classmates did. Good or bad that was the class of ’72.
His last employment was in San Antonio, Texas. With failing health, he returned to Iowa.
He is survived by his parents, Bob and Beverly Davis of Delhi; a sister, Kathy (Garlyn) Glanz of Earlville, and their children; brothers, Craig (Julie) Davis of Delhi, and their son, and Cory (Laurie) Davis of Strawberry Point, and their children; nieces and nephews, two great nieces and two great nephews.
Harlan was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles.
