Gwendolyn "Gwen" Baxley (Wilson)

Gwendolyn Jane (Wilson) Baxley, 77, a resident of Summit Pointe Senior Living Community, Marion, died Monday, October 20, 2008, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, following a brief illness. Per Gwen’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services at this time. Instead, a memorial service held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, Iowa. Private inurnment will take place at Lone Tree Cemetery in Hayward, California at a later date.
Survivors include his children, Chris (Jan) Baxley of Robins, Iowa, Si (Rochelle) Baxley of Discovery Bay, California, and Susan (Steve) Bellflower of Grove, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 sister and 2 brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Debby Baxley.
Gwendolyn was born June 15, 1931, the daughter of Hugh and Gwendolyn (Jungren) Wilson, in Los Angeles, California. She married Royce Orton Baxley on July 7, 1951 in Porterville, California. He died November 6, 1992. Gwen served as the Director of Satellite Senior Living in Oakland, California for many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, 315 18th Avenue, Hiawatha, Iowa 52233, in Gwen’s memory.
