Gwendolen Georgyne Marie (Fix) Kern, 59, of 2665 Lansing Drive, Marion, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by Rev. Kim Pagel. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Survivors include her husband, Daryl; six children, Shannon (Kelly) Moyer, Jacqueline (Anthony) Smith, Mary (Robert) Blangy, Bethanie (Joshua) Cosman, Daniel Kern, Natalie Kern; four grandchildren, Carina, Valerie, Luke, Jerryd; three brothers, Jerry, Sam, and Dan Fix.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Gwen was born December 1, 1949, in Lebanon, Indiana to Homer Dean Fix and Gwendolen Clara Elizabeth (Gray) Fix. She attended Zionsville High School in Zionsville, Indiana. Gwen also attended school for and worked briefly as a dental hygienist. On December 9, 1978, Gwen was married to Daryl E. Kern in Boone County, Indiana.
Gwen was known for loving her personal savior, Jesus Christ, and for standing by her faithful, loving husband, her six children, and four grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Gwen recently took on the new hobby of knitting; enjoyed beadwork, bargain shopping, writing stories and poems, and collecting Avon. She remembered every touch, tear, kiss, hug, laugh, or smile from anyone that came into and out of her life.
