Guy L. Niffenegger, 45, of 1146 21st Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, in St. Luke?s Hospital, following a sudden illness. Services: 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Kim; a daughter, Jennifer (Damon) Payton of Hiawatha; a son, James (Megan) Niffenegger of Ankeny; three grandchildren, Alyssa and James Slight and Damon Payton, Jr.; his parents, William and Marjorie Niffenegger of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Dorothy Hora of Tipton, Rita (Dave) Smith of Cedar Rapids and Nancy (Tom) Detweiler of Hiawatha; a brother, Leo (Karen) Niffenegger; mother and father-in-law, Sam and Charlotte Hill of Harpers Ferry, IA; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilma and Floyd Smith and Reuben and Elizabeth Niffenegger.
Guy was born September 25, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of William and Marjorie (Smith) Niffenegger of Cedar Rapids. On August 18, 1979, he was united in marriage to Kim Metcalf. Guy worked for the City of Cedar Rapids in the Streets Department for 12 years. He was a member of the AFSCME Local 620 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, collecting and restoring antique lamps, gambling and was an Iowa State fan..
