Guy O. Murdock, 51, of 2610 Johnson Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, January 2, 2007, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Memorial Service: 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2007, at Believers in Grace Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Randalls. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends are invited to join the family at Union Station, 1724 16th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, following the services.
Survivors include his parents, James and Sharon Murdock of Cedar Rapids; his children, Shawn and Jake Andrews of Surprise, Arizona, and Rocky Murdock of Portland Oregon; two sisters, Deena Fernandez, Kelly and Bill Wharton, of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Sam Murdock of Cedar Rapids and Jeff Murdock of Las Vegas, Nevada; and his children?s mother, Susan Bechtold of Center Point.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Marty Murdock; and a nephew, Jesse Fernandez.
Guy was born October 2, 1955, the son of James and Sharon (Owen) Murdock, in Moses Lake, Washington. A 1973 Jefferson High School graduate, he owned and operated Murdock Communications for 20 years. Guy was a private pilot and enjoyed sky diving, deep sea fishing and golf.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Guy.
