Grover Taylor, 84, of Rowley, went to meet his family in Heaven on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at his home. Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City by Joe Kane. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at the funeral home in Central City. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, rural Coggon. Military honors provided by: American Legion Floyd Williamson Post #712 of Troy Mills.
Grover was born in Stockton, Iowa on August 13, 1929, to Joe and Nellie (Bowers) Taylor. He attended several schools in Iowa, the last one in Central City through the 8th grade. He then held several positions in the area on farms and doing odd jobs. He served in the U.S. Army between 1951 – 1953, and spent 13 months in Germany. After completing his Army duties, he was a cheese maker, farm hand, and grain hauler.
Grover married Edith Fleming on March 13, 1955, in Central City. They have four children, Tom (Lisa), Greg (Kelli), David, and Terri (Jim) Janaszak. They have twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Grover enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, camping, and trap shooting with his boys.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his two sisters, Nellie Woods of Central City, and Ruth Wiley of Tipton.
