Gregory D. Erger, 42, of 414 Main Street, Center Point, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, at home of pancreatic cancer, with his family by his side. Services: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Urbana, by Father Gabriel Anderson. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, with a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. Private Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.
Greg is survived by his parents, Harold D. and Betty L. Erger of Center Point, his siblings, Jeff Erger of Center Point, Brad Erger and wife Shelly of Rowley, Karla Schaefer and husband Scott of Forest City and Brenda Erger of Marion; and his nieces and nephews, Lehia, Lindsey and Austin Erger.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Dorothy Erger, Carl Andrews, and Mel and Neva Abernathy.
Greg was born February 26, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harold Dean and Betty Lou Erger. He enjoyed working as a concrete finisher for R.L. Snitker, Inc. Greg was a member of the Hawkeye Hooksetters. He loved all types of hunting, fishing and finding mushrooms and also had a great passion for his bass boat. He was always thoughtful and known for telling his enthusiastic stories and touched many with his quiet laidback ways. He was a great son, special brother and friend and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Greg has a lot of awesome friends and family and they appreciate all the support, love and prayers that came from everyone. The family requests casual dress or hunting/fishing attire to be worn at Greg?s services and no memorials to be given. There will be a procession from the funeral home to the church for Greg's service leaving at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday.
