The family of Gregory “Greg” Ciha, 65, of Mount Vernon, Iowa, is saddened to announce the passing of our Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Husband, and Uncle Greg on Monday, March 21, 2022. He slipped peacefully into the arms of God while at Mercy Medical Center battling liver disease. He is at peace now and in a wonderfully glorious place. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Creekside Bible Church located at 1410 44th Street, Marion, with an additional visitation an hour prior to service at the church. Pastor James Perry will be officiating. Cremation will take place after funeral service.

Greg was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on March 8, 1957, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Morehouse) Ciha. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lance and Maxine Morehouse and paternal grandparents, Jack and Lucille Ciha. He was also preceded in death by his little brother Jeff, that Greg lovingly took care of during Jeff’s battle with cancer. He is survived by his parents, Don and Dorothy Ciha of Central City, Iowa; wife, Jennifer Ciha of Mount Vernon; children, Chelsea Ciha, Nikki Ciha, and Hunter Ciha all of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Raelynn Ciha and Maxwell Ciha; brothers, Steve (Vicki) Ciha of Central City, Brian (Roberta) Ciha of Surprise, Arizona, and Kevin (Lisa) Ciha of Central City; sister, Marcia (Matthew) Kreutner of Center Point, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews who called Greg “Uncle”.

Greg was a 1975 graduate of Linn-Mar High School where he excelled at playing tennis. He always got a good laugh out of launching a good, hard, fast serve right at one of his brothers, as we stood frozen with little time to figure out what to do. After a brief time at Grace College in Indiana, Greg settled down working for Target stores in the security department. He was very good at nabbing shoplifters, and his excellence quickly propelled him up the chain to where he was travelling to other stores helping them with setting up their security systems.

Jenny and Greg bought a nice camper and enjoyed going all over Iowa setting up camp and enjoying their camping experiences with their children and grandchildren. He was a member of the NRA and liked to shoot rifles, shotguns, and pistols with his brothers. He had a big Harley Davidson motorcycle that he greatly enjoyed riding. Greg enjoyed fishing, gardening and adventures in the Minnesota Boundary Waters with Dave, Kevin and Brad. He had a cutting quick-witted sense of humor that we will all miss. Rest well Greg, until we all meet again one day in heaven above.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Rapids Grace Church or Creekside Bible Church.
