Grant Freed Frazier, 78, a resident of Crestview Acres Care Center in Marion, died there Wednesday, December 12, 2007, following a lingering illness. Services with military honors: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by the Rev. Randy Bobzien. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 ?" 7 p.m. Friday.

Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly S. Frazier of Marion; two brothers, James E. (Sonja) Frazier of Cedar Rapids, and E. David (Doris) Frazier of Lafayette; four sisters, Naomi (Kenneth Fuessley) Mitchell of Alburnett, Catherine (David) Karr of Hiawatha, Helen (Homer) Wilson of California and Mardelle (Clete) Reincke of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. Grant was preceded in death by his parents.

Grant was born September 19, 1929, the son of Elmer and Adella (Freed) Frazier in Cedar Rapids. He served with the U.S. Army Field Artillery Radar Unit of the Second Armored Division in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Grant was employed at Quaker Oats over twenty-five years, retiring in March 1992.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Marion, IOOF Maine Lodge 643 of Cedar Rapids, Marion Democratic Club, and Marion American Legion Post 298, which will provide the military honors at Grant’s service. He was also a past volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital.
