Grace Evelyn Silver, 91, a longtime resident of Marion, passed away at the Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, Iowa, Saturday, September 19, 2009. Services: 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Marion by Rev. Randy Bobzien. The family will greet friends from 10:00 ?" 12:30 p.m. at the church with a light luncheon being served from 11:30 ?" 12:30. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Wayne (Pamela J.) Silver of Cedar Rapids, Donna R. Hoppes of Ely, and Pamela Diane Silver of Ely; grandchildren, Jeff (Melinda) Silver of Lisbon, Robert Silver of Marion, Shawn (Amy) Silver of Cedar Rapids, Cory Silver of Cedar Rapids and Justin Silver of Marion; five great-grandchildren, Allison, Dylan, Crystal Grace, Gabriel, and Kaitlyn, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; a son-in-law, Gary Hoppes; five brothers, and three sisters.
Grace was born December 16, 1917, the daughter of Louis and Nellie (Wells) Wright, in Central City, Iowa. She married Edward L. Silver in 1945 at the chapel of the Veteran’s Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Grace was a member of First Baptist Church in Marion.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Grace’s memory.
