Grace M. Minor, 84, of Central City, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, at her home, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, by Rev. Nick Longworth. The family will greet friends from 4 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial: Jordan’s Grove Cemetery, Central City, Iowa.
Survivors include a son, Glenn E. Minor of Central City; three grandchildren, Dean (Breanna) Minor of Anamosa, Vania Minor of Iowa City, and Beth (Dennis) Runyan of Iowa City; five great-grandchildren, Brian Comley, Jesse Smith, Demiah Ankum, Serena Nicole Bascom, and Rylee McBride. Other survivors include a great niece, Betty (Don) Dinsmore of Del Haven, New Jersey; a brother-in-law, Maurice (Eileen) Minor of Manchester; and 3 sisters-in-law, Lois Wehrhan of Cedar Rapids, Edith (Richard) Lyons of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Isabel Richardson of Iowa Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; her parents; 2 sisters, Olivia Wilcox and Emily McGinnis; and one brother, Arthur Beal.
Grace was born October 27, 1924, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Oppemeyer) Beal, in Philadelphia, PA. She married Glenn W. Minor on August 12, 1944 in Philadelphia. He died on May 15, 1999. Grace was a homemaker and also worked at Lane Bryant War Plant in Philadelphia during WWII, Collins Radio, and Swiss Colony at Lindale Mall. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, scrabble, reading, fishing, cooking, camping, knitting, and crocheting. Grace loved her cat, Moo-Moo, and enjoyed having visitors. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Grace’s memory.
