Grace M. Long, 68 of 2542 L Street SW, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Ed Powers. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Floyd; her sons, Allen and wife Dixie of Bertram, Iowa, Jeff and wife Dixie of Birmingham, Iowa, Kevin and wife Candy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Steve and wife Denise of Alameda, California; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seven sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers.
Grace was born November 2, 1934, the daughter of George and Esther (Coay) Hawley, in Iowa City, Iowa. On December 1, 1951, she was united in marriage to Floyd Long in Cedar Rapids. Grace worked at Rockwell Collins for 22 years as a documentation writer, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and also a volunteer for Mercy Cancer survivors. Grace will be truly missed and the memories she has left will be treasured by all of her family and friends.
