Grace Rose Cira Hatt, 84, of 4526 Maureen Drive SE, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at Willow Gardens Care Center, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion by Rev. John Gossman. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Vincent J. Hatt and wife Janice of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Linda Lundahl of Marion, Roseanne Ewing and husband Lon of Bellevue, Nebraska and Graceanne Hatt and Wayne Edwards of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Leah Cira, with whom she made her home for many years and Anna Pusateri of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Joe Cira and wife Alice of Marion and Michael Cira and wife Mary Eleanor of Pueblo, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Myers and husband Eddie of Cedar Rapids, Nicole Carlson and husband Doug of Coggon, Michelle Stafford and husband Glen of Cedar Rapids, Jamie Lundahl of Marion, Eric and Bryan Ewing of Bellevue, Nebraska, Jill Thornton of Corona, California and Jim Thornton of Hiawatha; and four great-grandchildren, Amber Hatt, Brittany Carlson and Jesse and Jasmine Stafford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent; her son, David; a sister, Nettie Cira; and a grandson, Lonnie E. Ewing.
Grace was born October 28, 1918, the daughter of Mike and Lena (Gallo) Cira in Marion. She married Vincent Hatt on September 8, 1938, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Marion. They owned and operated Vince Hatt Insurance and Tax Service in Marion. Vincent died March 23, 1986. Grace was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
