Gordon Warnke
September 2, 1929 — May 24, 2015
Gordon Warnke, 85, of Marion, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015, following a brief battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of 60 years; daughters, Candis Hebson of Highland Park, IL, Tracy (James) Unmacht of Phoenix, AZ, and Michelle Kennedy of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Grace (Jason) Unmacht Kendall, James Unmacht III, William Hebson, and Evan Kennedy.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, sister, brother, son-in-law, and granddaughter.
Gordon was born in Cincinnati, OH, September 2, 1929. He graduated from Maynard High School, attended Upper Iowa University and Cedar Falls Teaching College, and served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. Gordon worked at Rockwell for 30 years, was a charter and active member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, where he served in many capacities. The latter years he used his musical talents singing with the Older Hymns men’s choir.
