Gloria Quist, 76, formerly of Milan, Illinois, died Tuesday, December 16, 2003, in her daughter?s home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following a long illness. Inurnment at a later date at Preemption Cemetery, Preemption, Illinois. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughters, Cathryn Drowns and husband Michael of Cedar Rapids, Phyllis Kellett of Silvis, Illinois; a son, Donald Quist, Jr. of Moline, Illinois, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Maurice Quist; a brother, Maurice Lloyd and a sister, Lorraine Smith.
Gloria was born January 3, 1927, the daughter of Maurice and Cathryn (Bucholtz) Lloyd, in Keithsburg, Illinois. She was raised in Aledo, Illinois. On May 7, 1944, she married Donald Quist Sr. in Aledo, Illinois. He died in 1970. Gloria was a Certified Nurse Aid at Comfort Harbor Nursing Home in Milan, Illinois and Friendship Manor in Rock Island, Illinois for 20 years before retiring in 1989.
