Gloria Jean Pflughaupt
July 19, 1940 — October 27, 2022
Gloria Jean Pflughaupt, 82, of Central City, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Silver Oaks in Marion, Iowa. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of her life will be held. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Boulder Cemetery, in rural Central City.
Gloria was born on July 19, 1940, in Jones County, Iowa, one of eight children to Willis Irwin and Lucea Mary (McGovern) Betzer. She was a 1958 graduate of Central City High School. Gloria worked as a Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years. She loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Gloria is survived and lovingly remembered by her four children, Cabrina Ball of Central City, James Jr. (Julie) Pflughaupt of Coggon, Iowa, Kimberlee (Larry) Leopold of Wichita, Kansas, and Jordan “Joe” (Traci) Pflughaupt of Vinton, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Kent (Tricia) Ball of Solon, Iowa, Brianne (Tim Schmitt) Ball of Williamsburg, Iowa, Ian (Dawn) Ball of Amana, Iowa, Amanda (Jeremy) Heim of Marion, Spencer (Kelli) Pflughaupt of Marion, Andrew (Jamie) Leopold of Shawnee, Kansas, Kaitlin (Courtney) Knaup of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tanner (Caitlin) Leopold of Wichita, Kansas, Jaycob (Lynne Sundberg) Pflughaupt of Martelle, Iowa, Whitney (Justin) Nosbisch of Vinton, Iowa, Taylor Pflughaupt of Vinton, and Rylie Pflughaupt (Aric Hanson) of Vinton; 19 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Charles (Jackie) Betzer of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, Eunice Marquis of Clinton, Iowa, and Russell Betzer of Anamosa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Deane Betzer; three sisters, Betty Lou Bergren, Doris Kula, and Virginia Bunting; and son-in-law, Patrick Ball.
