Glenn A. Wall
January 26, 1924 — June 11, 2013
Glenn A. Wall, 89, a lifelong resident of Central City, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at United Church of Christ, Central City, by Rev. Vicki Engelmann. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Burial will take place at a later date at Springville Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Dora; daughters, Corinne (James) Minnick of Central City, and Denise (Tony) Starry of Central City; three grandchildren, Taylor, Alexa, and Wyatt Starry; four step-grandchildren, Jim Jr., Tami, Alicia, and Emilie; six step-great-grandchildren, Brianna, Cody, Aidan, Alex, Caitlyn, and Christian; brother, Albion (Maxine) Wall of Cedar Rapids, sisters, Vaneta Kester of Manchester, and Viola (John) Kerr of Rochester, MN; sister-in-law, Georgia Wall of Oklahoma City, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd, Raymond, and Charles Wall.
Glenn was born January 26, 1924, near Central City, the son of Louis and Cora (Jepson) Wall. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII. Glenn married Dora Brunen on April 17, 1951, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Central City. He was a postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service. Glenn was a member of American Legion Post #421, and AmVet Post #37. He was a volunteer for the Central City Ambulance and Fire Department, and a member of the North Linn Fish and Game Club. Glenn’s hobbies included gardening, camping, trout fishing, and wood working, and he was known for his grandmother clocks.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the North Linn Ambulance and Fire Department.
