Glenn L. Streed, 92, of the Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died there Sunday, September 9, 2007, following a long illness. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2007, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Harlan Gillespie. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial at a later date at Galva Township Cemetery, Galva, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Cedar Rapids; sons, Eric (Rosie) Streed of San Diego, California and their son Nicolas, and Warren Streed of Federal Way, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Clifford Streed.
Glenn was born October 13, 1914, in Galva, Iowa, the son of John and Louella (Helkenn) Streed. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1938. On August 10, 1940, he married Ruth Ioerger in Iowa City. He served in the Air Force during WWII in the South Pacific. Glenn worked at Rockwell Collins as an Estimating Engineer.
Glenn was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, the Elk’s Club and was a former member of the Congenial 100 Dance Club. He enjoyed bird watching, woodworking, gardening, fishing, traveling, and especially loved his German Shepherd dogs.
