Glenn Floyd Pernicka

Glenn Floyd Pernicka, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at his home. The family will conduct a celebration of life gathering from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Fairfax City Hall, 300 80th St. Ct., Fairfax, Iowa. Private burial will be held at Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
Glenn was born October 6, 1929, at home in Cedar Rapids, the son of Peter and Anna (Tomanka) Pernicka. He graduated from Franklin High School and married Virginia Kruse on November 22, 1953. Glenn was in the ROTC and then served his country in the United States Army from 1953 – 1955. He worked in sales at Armstrong’s in downtown Cedar Rapids for 34 years which made him the longest employee at the company. Glenn also enjoyed working at the Gazette part-time. Glenn retired in 2007.
Survivors include his son, Steven Pernicka; daughter, Sheryl (William) Novak; grandchildren, Connie (Ryan) Anderson, Amber (Darren) Stearns, William Novak; and great-grandchildren, Lydia Stearns, Derek Stearns, Ireland Anderson, and Beckett Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Anna; wife, Virginia; brother, Harold Pernicka; and an infant sister.
