Glenn was born May 22, 1918 on the east edge of Marion, the son of George and Mary (Bachman) Olinger. He attended school in Marion, and graduated from Springville High School. Glenn met the love of his life, Pauline Taylor of Marion, and they were married at Marion Christian Church on August 5, 1941. They farmed in Springville, Martelle, Central City, and Alburnett, with Glenn retiring in 1994. He was also a carpenter for many years, first with his cousin, TJ Olinger, then forming a partnership with his brother, Roy. As “G & R Construction”, they proudly built Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, in rural Marion. He loved horses, and the time he spent farming with his father. Glenn enjoyed woodworking, building toy farm wagons, cradles and shelves for his grandchildren. First and foremost, his wife and his family were the most important things in his life.

Glenn was a member of the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, Marion, a charter member of the Alburnett Historical Society, and a long time member of the Alburnett Lions Club.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to all of the staff at the Hiawatha Care Center, and Home Choice Senior Care for the loving care they provided Glenn.
