Glenn R. Burrell, 89, of 3242 C Ave. Ext., died Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at home following a brief illness. Graveside Services: 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2005, at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion by Rev. Mr. Denis K. Burrell with military honors. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Shirley; and two sons, Lynn R. Burrell and Edwin E. Burrell, both of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Lawrence, Harold, Chester and Wayne.
Glenn was born August 21, 1916, the son of Clarence A. and Blanche Irene (Sheffield) Burrell in Major County, Oklahoma. On July 1, 1953, he married H. Shirley Carver in Marion. Glenn served for twenty-seven months as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps 416th Bomb Squadron of the 99th Bomb Group during WWII. He was a farmer in Oklahoma and later in Iowa. After retirement he divided his time between growing flowers and his son?s store.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion.
