Glenn Richard Barr

Glenn R. Barr, 84, of 1325 30th Street Drive S.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Calvin Sinclair Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Kent Leydens. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; children, Diana Stanek of Davenport, Dixie (Daniel) Peden of Ely and Glenn Richard (Karen) Barr, Jr. of Skokie, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Lavada Dale and Wilma Rischer.
Glenn was born May 19, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Glenn Sr. and Emma (Baker) Barr. He served in the U.S. Air Force. In 1944, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Barton in Hampton, Virginia. He was employed by Penick and Ford in the shipping office for 37 years.
Glenn served as a Deacon at Calvin Sinclair Presbyterian Church where he was very involved and State Commander for the Disabled Vets. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing pinnacle but his greatest pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and his family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Glenn’s memory.
