Glen A. Young, 71, of 720 Hillview Drive, Fairfax, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday afternoon, March 21, 2005, in his home, from complications of emphysema. Services: 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Jay Jentink, with military rites. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today (Wednesday).

He is survived by his wife, Joann; a son, Greg and wife Rachel of Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Young; two sisters, Betty Dodson of Kansas City, Missouri and Dorothy (Marvin) Smith of Milan, Missouri; three brothers, Bill Young, James (Norma) Young, all of Green City, Missouri, and Don Young of Venice, Florida; a sister-in-law, Georgene Young of Green City, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Gary Gretlien of Jefferson City, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Young; and three sisters, Geraldine Morris, Margaret Branstetter and Linda Gretlien.

Glen was born on April 18, 1933, in Green City, Missouri, the son of Harley and Nettie Clelland Young. On June 21, 1952 in Green City, Missouri, he married Joann Kelley. Glen served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. In 1955, Glen and Joann moved to Cedar Rapids, where Glen owned and operated different businesses, retiring from Glen?s Oil, Inc. in 1995. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids.
