He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and his wives.
Glen was born July 13, 1908, in rural Central City, the son of Marion and Alice (Dunn) Nightingale. In his younger days he worked the fields of North Dakota threshing wheat. He worked one summer building the bridge on old Highway 13 across the Wapsie in Central City. On August 9, 1929, Glen married Margery Ross. He later married Evelyn, Ruth and Thelma. He retired from AD Mills & Co. Hardware after forty-two years of service.
Woodworking, building windmills, gardening, dancing and tinkering were all things Glen enjoyed doing in his spare time. He loved life and worked very hard. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family and you were a stranger to him only once. He especially liked telling stories of his earlier days and adventures. He was proud to know that he could answer almost any question about Maine Township and the Central City area. He doted on his grandchildren, especially when they were young. Glen will be greatly missed but leaves behind a legacy of fond memories.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Monticello Care Center for the care and love they gave him.
A memorial fund has been established in Glen?s memory.
