Glen A. "Chip? Dufoe, 82, of Center Point, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, in his home, following a lingering illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005, at United Methodist Church of Center Point, by the Rev. Mike Ellson. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point, with military honors.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; his sons, David of Cedar Rapids and John (Valerie) Dufoe of Center Point; a daughter, Donna (Keith) Sims of Marietta, Georgia; five grandchildren, Alex and Alyssa Dufoe, Tom, Lindsay and Andy Sims; two brothers, Earl of Marion and Dean of Grinnell; a sister, Margaret (David) Shean of St. Louis, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Howard, Doran, Wayne and Gene; and two sisters, Virginia Peebles and Ione Hemming.

Chip was born January 10, 1923, the son of Floyd and Katie Nietert Dufoe, at University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. A 1941 graduate from Center Point High School, he worked at the Rock Island Arsenal until he entered the United States Army in 1944, where he served as a medic until his discharge in 1946. Upon his discharge, Chip worked at Dufoe Hardware in Center Point. After obtaining his Journeyman Plumber License, he worked for Glenn Schade Plumbing, Best Plumbing, Thomas Plumbing, and A-Hearn Plumbing, before establishing Dufoe Plumbing in Center Point. On September 23, 1951, he was united in marriage to Doris Whitehead in Brandon, Iowa.

Chip was an active member of the Center Point United Methodist Church, where he served on the Ad Council and the Board of Trustees. He also served as a town council member and was a member of the American Legion Post 297.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Center Point in memory of Chip.
