Gladys Tlusty, 95, a resident of Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 9, 2002, at Meth-Wick, following a short illness. Graveside services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2002, at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion by Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer. Friends may call from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Alice Koval of Marion, Iowa, Lois Craig of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gerald Frederick of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ray Frederick of Marshalltown, Iowa, Ruth Ambinder of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Mary Barkwill of Boone, Iowa, Jean Plesko of Wenona, Illinois, Janet Clark of Hiawatha, Iowa and Sally Neathery of Tucson, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milo; four brothers, Frank, Fred F., Elmer G. and Wilmer "Beeler?; and a nephew, Richard Frederick.

Gladys was born March 10, 1907, in Marion, Iowa, the daughter of Christian and Minnie (Subke) Frederick. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1929, earning her B.A. On July 14, 1934, she married Milo Joseph Tlusty in Iowa City. He died April 26, 1997. Gladys was a lifetime member of the University of Iowa Alumni Association and of the Eastern Star Chapter 183 in Marion. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Western Springs, Illinois and of the AAUW. Gladys enjoyed collecting antiques, volunteering, crafts and traveling.
