Gladys E. Leinbach, 98, formerly of Galesburg and Maquoketa, now a resident of Silvercrest in Anamosa, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, in Jones Regional Medical Center, following a short illness. Graveside Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2007, at Stronghurst Township Cemetery in Stronghurst, Illinois. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include a brother, Kenneth (Marjorie) Mudd of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; two grandchildren, Ann Ladd, of Edina, Minnesota and Donald Ladd of Iowa City; and many other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Julia Ladd and a sister, Agnes Peyton.
Gladys was born the daughter of Roy and Myrtle (Bainter) Mudd on September 23, 1908, in Stronghurst, Illinois. In 1936 in Roseville, Illinois, she was married to LaVerne Leinbach. He died in 1989. She received her teaching degree in Illinois and taught in the Stronghurst area. In 1960 she and LaVerne moved to Maquoketa, Iowa, where they owned and operated Leinbach?s Clothing Store until their retirement.
