Gina Marie Muzingo

Gina Marie Muzingo, 63, of Shellsburg, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018. A private family burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Shellsburg, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will take place at 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids.
Gina was born July 9, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John Hodges and Regina Blake. She graduated from Kennedy High School and also went to Kirkwood Community College. Gina married Aaron Muzingo on June 24, 1973, in Cedar Rapids. She worked at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids in laundry services and she was also head of the pet committee. Gina had a passion for animals and she loved bird watching. She enjoyed gardening, music, and in her younger years, she loved to play in local pool leagues.
Survivors include her daughters, Amy (Ben) Cosgrove of Cedar Rapids and Audrey Muzingo of Mobile, Alabama; grandchildren, Madeline Cosgrove and Fauna Muzingo-Hillman; step-granddaughter, Allegra Cosgrove; sister, Vicki DuMond; brother, Brian Varner; and half-brother, Alan Andersen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Aaron in 2010; and brothers, Bruce and Mark.
