Gertrude Bentley Harris, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, January 29, 2018, at Regis Woods Care and Rehabilitation Center in Louisville under the care of hospice.
Visitation: 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the funeral home officiated by Minister Todd Bernard. Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Gertrude was born July 24, 1933, in Macon, Mississippi to Eddie and Sylvia Green. She was united in marriage to Elder Issac Albert Bentley in Denton, Texas in 1960. They made their home in Cedar Rapids, where Gertrude was a homemaker. Gertrude moved to Louisville in November 2016, to be near family.
Gertrude was a faithful servant of the Lord. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. Gertrude enjoyed serving in the church kitchen, and spending time with her sisters. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
To cherish her memory, Gertrude leaves behind her loving daughter, Gertrude (Todd) Bernard; grandchildren, Hilton, Hilary, Holly, and Halston Bernard, all of Louisville, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Harper, and Michael Bernard; and special great-grandchild, Gabriel Gross.
Also surviving are her siblings, Dora Wise of Cedar Rapids, Wallace Green of Cedar Rapids, Eddie (Gloria) Green of Wichita, Kansas, Robert Green of Atlanta, Georgia, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Issac in 2005; and sisters, Beatrice Stevens, Bernice Stevens, Ollie Green, and Katherine Oliver.
