Geraldine M. Williams, 95, of the Coggon and Monticello area, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at home. Funeral Mass: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monticello.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet L. (Thomas) Beckman of Monticello; grandchildren, Gerald (Dana) Beckman of Elizabeth, CO, and Michelle (Bill) Timp of Fort Atkinson; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Ruby, and William Timp; and brothers, Gilbert (Wanita) Nehl of Monticello, and Joseph (Connie) Nehl of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; infant daughter, Mary Jane; grandson, Jason Beckman; and siblings, Vernon Nehl, Wallace (Rose) Nehl, John (Janet) Nehl, Rita (Willis) Doden, Isabell (Joe) Lahr, Joan (Jack) Bockenstedt, and Eugene (Angie) Nehl.
Geraldine was born April 12, 1917 in Alta Vista, IA, the daughter of Charles and Rose (Gilbert) Nehl. She married Paul Williams on April 28, 1943 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg, IA. Geraldine loved to cook and bake and was well known for her apple pie and potato salad. She liked to play cards and was a real people person. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting, and mostly, Geraldine loved her family.
