Geraldine Elizabeth Ott, 76, of 6607 Devonshire Dr. NE, died Thursday, September 13, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Celebration of Life Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2007, at Peace Christian Reformed Church by Rev. Doug MacLeod. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include her husband, Jim of Cedar Rapids; four daughters, Kathy (Dave) Mark of Darien, Illinois and their children Linda (Kevin) Sievert, Tamara (Dave) Grass, and James Mark, Janet (Doug) Heslinga of Cedar Rapids and their children, James Heslinga, Dusty (Luke) Gentzler, and Scott Heslinga, Tammy (Jeff) Kriegel of Center Point and their children, Mike and Nic O’Malley, Maggie (Scott) Larson of Mt. Vernon and their children Treesa and Tony Hennessey, and Alycia Larson; and a great-granddaughter, Victoria Lynn Shifflett-Heslinga.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gerald and Gale; and three sisters, Addie, Margaret, and Alma.
Geraldine was born July 18, 1931, the daughter of Richard and Matilda (Sweeney) Forbes in Ottumwa. On May 22, 1954, she married Jim Ott in Lancaster, Missouri. Geraldine had worked in Ottumwa at American Home Finding and later at Armstrong’s Department Store in Cedar Rapids for many years in the credit department.
Jerry was the best wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and Linn County Humane Society in Geraldine’s memory.
